Bergenfield a Great Choice for Homebuyers with Kids
For home buyers considering to purchase a home in the towns of Ridgefield Park and Bergenfield, here is more reason for them to do so. As per a survey conducted by Bloomberg on the best places to buy a home and raise children in New Jersey, the towns of Ridgefield Park and Bergenfield were ranked at No. 1 and No. 2 respectively. Locations across all 50 states were rated and the rankings appeared in the magazine’s fifth annual survey of the Best Towns, Villages and Small Cities to Raise Your Children. The parameters considered for rating included, education, proximity to parks and pools, the number of houses with yards and other child friendly options. From the point of view of education, this comes as no surprise: Bergen County schools are renowned throughout New Jersey for their excellence, and schools in Bergenfield and Ridgefield Park are no exception. Officials of the towns were pleased with the survey results and stated that their hard work had paid off. Children are benefiting from facilities and are growing in a nurturing environment. Officers from Bergenfield also added that the survey by Bloomberg Weekly was unsolicited and they had not applied to be included in it.
LG Electronics Purchases Property in Englewood Cliffs
As a part of its expansion plans, LG Electronics USA Inc. has purchased a huge office building in the town of Englewood Cliffs. The organization purchased the office at 111 Sylvan Ave. during the last month but refused to divulge the sale price of the property. However Piedmont Office Realty Trust Inc., the prior owners of the property, disclosed that the office building was in contract and was to sell for $55 million that month. With this purchase, LG Electronics now owns the 410,000 sq ft building, a suitable purchase for an organization that has its North American headquarters based in the eastern Bergen County town. While LG expressed little about its plans with the building, the mayor stated that the organization can demolish, renovate or sell the building if it so pleases. The company may also consider using state incentives and land use approvals. With approximately 450 of its employees located in Englewood Cliffs, the organization may also consider relocating.
After the approval for the new housing plan in Edgewater, the Bergen County real estate market will soon be welcoming the town’s new luxury condominiums. The SGS Development project will call for a ten unit, nine storey building located on River Road and Route 5. The building plan had been under controversy and was the focus of litigation when the board rejected the plan in 2010. The plan had then been rejected owing to the proposed height of 105.5 feet, which would have blocked views of the Hudson River and New York City for many people. SGS then submitted revised building plans as per which the height of the proposed building was reduced to 95 feet. At this height, there would be clear view of the skyline from Route 5. Thus in light of recent developments, the board voted 5-1 and approved the amended plans when the architect, Conrad Roncati gave several hours of testimony. As per the architect, even with the revised plan, the footprint of the building remains the same. While the floor to ceiling heights in the original plan was at 11 feet, the architect stated that he reduced heights to 9 feet 8 inches to accommodate for the revised building height. Also, a glass railing, placed around the roof, and as required by law, will allow for an uninterrupted view of the skyline.
Transforming the Suburbs of Bergen County
Suburban areas across North Jersey are now experiencing a shift towards a more urban way of life. Trends indicate that in more towns today, urban kind of housing is coming up. In the town of Englewood for example, an industrial park is now giving way to an urban neighborhood of apartments. After World War II, a boom was noted in suburbs, with many garden apartments, strip malls and office parks. However, over the years, these suburban areas are coming up with more mixed developments: homes, offices and shopping malls all rolled up into one. Studies have indicated that this could work out well for the environment in the long run. The lifestyle of a person living in suburbs as compared to one living in an urban apartment is quite different. In fact, people living in apartments leave a carbon footprint three times smaller compared to the person living in suburban regions. People in suburban regions also often had to travel miles to reach their nearest shopping center, which is no longer the case, with more shopping centers coming up in the suburban neighborhood.
