Englewood Luxury Apartment under Question

A luxury Englewood real estate project is under question by residents, as to how an extra floor on the building has received approval. While the site plan that has received the approval by the planning board shows four stories in a particular section of the Towne centre development, building permits show five stories. The Town centre project would comprise of 188 units that are slated to come up south of the Palisade Avenue. However, developer Fred Fish of the Real Estate Equity Co. handling the project says that they have totally complied with the law and their building is not any bigger, just higher. Officials from the council have stated that they are investigating the issue and will look into whether the Building Department allowed changes without informing the Planning Board or the city.

Ridgefield Homes – New Sizes

The figures that decide the maximum size of new homes in Ridgefield have now been put in place. The borough council of Ridgefield has now limited the size under new restrictions. As per the new figures, a two family home on an area of 5,000-square-feet must not exceed 3,250 square feet. A single family home on the other hand must not exceed 3,000 square feet. These new figures were unanimously approved by the members. Officials state that these figures have been limited in order to prevent the construction of oversized homes that not just take up the green space but also cast shadows on neighbouring structures. However, these figures only apply to new constructions and existing structures are exempt from the regulations.

New Bergen County Housing Project May Beginy

Hartz Mountain Industries, a well known developer in the Meadowlands is now commencing its new project of constructing multifamily homes in the Bergen County area zoned for commercial purposes. The organization has approached the Meadowlands commission to permit its housing project on a stretch of 170 acres that straddles Secaucus, Rutherford, Lyndhurst and East Rutherford. No designs for the layout or figures on number of units have however been put forth as yet. However what is known is that the project will mainly cater to families without children and thus would not overly burden local services. While the project would have received the green signal, the process has currently been put on halt when the mayors of Secaucus and Rutherford put forth an objection. The project still needs authorization by a committee of mayors who represent the 14 towns that makes up the Meadowlands commission.

Call Centre Prove Expensive In Bergen County

Crank phone calls are now emerging to be a major expenditure for Bergen County. This issue came up, when Bergen county officials checked records of the ‘One call’ system put in place. This system comes to use when building contractors need to excavate a street. Using this toll free system, alerts are sent out to gas, electric and cable companies or to agencies whose road, pipes or wires might be disrupted. While the system is beneficial and helps to prevent explosions and blackouts, on the flipside a number of wrong calls are also seen to be registered. With each call costing $1.28, the figures are mounting up in the form of unnecessary expenditure for the borough. As per calculations, wrong alerts cost the county $18,000 to $20,000 every year. Also for every 600 legitimate calls that are made, there are 1200 wrong alerts, a high figure. Officials of the state Board of Public Utilities have stated that they would surely work with the county to help minimize the expenses.
