Promotional Banners in Tenafly?

Business Improvement District vice President Robin Odabash Brown and member Khalid Mansoor ( owner of Healthway Natuaral Foods  store )  presented a promotional initiative proposing that promotional banners will adorn poles in the Tenafly downtown directing residents and shoppers to buy, eat, and play local.

This initiative is part of a growing trend to promote local shopping as seen in various Bergen County towns.

The initiative  is looking to purchase 56 banners that are 5 feet tall and 2 1/2 feet wide and placed 12 feet above the curb line hung on utility poles. BID members hope this initiative will usher people into the shopping districts around the town. The banners are green and orange, show various pictures illustrating all the activities in the town, and sport the BID’s “Your Town, Our Town” tagline.

The BID’s goal is to have the banners up when Christmas and holiday decorations come down. Brown hopes the banners will dress up the town during the more “dreary” parts of the year after the holidays.

Officials are slated to discuss the banners again in 2014.
