Tenafly Approved Real Estate And Doctors’ Offices on Washington Avenue As Part Of Easing Business Rules Downtown

In an effort to make Tenafly more business friendly, the council adopted changes that will allow more flexibility in setting up new business or, changing existing ones.

Included in the amendment is changes that would allow stores that want to convert to a different type of business to change the use without requiring a variance as currently exist. Other changes included removing restrictions mandating businesses to provide parking for patrons and employees. There is no longer a need for parking variances.

The new law will allow real estate and doctor’s offices on the Washington Avenue.

Commuter permit-parking restrictions were lifted in certain areas, including the basketball courts, Municipal Circle, Franklin Street, Piermont Road, South Summit Street, Washington Street bypass, Tenafly Road and West Railroad Avenue after 10 a.m. Monday through Saturday

We want the business community to know that Tenafly is open for business [with our goal of] making it very easy for new businesses to move into Tenafly and open up,” Councilman Mark Zinna said.

“Historically, Tenafly has been a difficult town for businesses to move into.”
