On July 10 the mayor and council of Tenafly approved a resolution to build affordable housing units in the borough for people with developmental disabilities . The facility planned , is scheduled to be built in partnership with United Way, a charity organization that specializes in creating affordable housing and, will consist of six units that contain 10 bedrooms.
The facility will be built on a 6,000 square foot property at 311 Tenafly Road. Approximately $1,023,935 from Tenafly’s affordable housing trust fund will be used to acquire the property.
As the property is located close to the Tenakill Brook, the council is yet to get the approval from the Department of Environmental Protection to go ahead with the project.
