The Tenafly Police Department is offering some unique services not widely known to all its residents.

The Key File

This service is strictly voluntary. The department maintains a key file for any resident, family member of Tenafly Resident or property owner who would like to keep a key  to their premises with the police Department. The key can then be used in cases of emergency or, when a resident  have locked themselves out as happens so often.

The  Peace of Mind Program

This program is designed to register – voluntarily – persons with special needs and especially residents suffering with Alzheimer’s or similar disease. For those wishing to register a photo of the identified person will be kept on file at the department and will aid  the officers in identifying who the individual is and where they belong.

Special Needs Registration

This program is for any of Tenafly’s residents who have special needs, including persons with physical disabilities or impairments, or those who require might require special handling during a response by emergency services personnel.

Information about a special needs person  can be provided to the department  to be used by dispatchers in cases of emergency. Any special handling information, person who needs to be contacted, preferred hospital or other special information may be provided to the department.

Identi-Kid Program

The department provides fingerprinting cards and kits free of charge to any resident which enables them to document and store their child’s fingerprints so that they have them in the event of an emergency.
