Tenafly Resident Improv Comedian Jerry Lazar Passed Away 1960-2012

Baristaville just got a lot less funny. Friends and fans of the Lunatic Fringe were saddened to learn that Jerry Lazar, a founding member of the improv troupe and its assistant director, passed away last Friday of complications following surgery. Jerry Lazar lived in Tenafly, with his wife, Risa Rosenberg, and their two children, Alexander and Katherine.

“Jerry Lazar was my good friend and a brilliant improv comedian, whose generosity onstage made everyone around him look good,” said Deborah Maclean, director of Lunatic Fringe. “He was a superb assistant director who ran Lunatic Fringe with me for 15 years. We will all miss him terribly.”
