The Tenafly school system is recognized locally and nationally as being of one the best in New Jersey and is a source of a lot of community pride among students, teachers, parents and all residents. Tenafly students consistently rank in the nation’s top percentiles in standardized test scores, and Tenafly High School is in of the top schools in the state.

In addition to strong academics, the extra and co-curricular activities are strong and the educational services are regularly reviewed, upgraded and adapted to match the changing needs and requirements of the student population. Parents and other residents are encouraged to participate in the entire educational system in Tenafly – in fact, the Tenafly Board of Education holds its first Community Outreach Meeting this month.
These informal gatherings bring together the BOE, the district’s administrator and community members to discuss issues that are important to the Tenafly school district’s high educational standards and its ongoing commitment to excellence.
Tenafly schools have received numerous awards and recognition, both locally and on a state and national level. In September 2005, the United States Department of Education awarded the ‘Blue Ribbon School Award’ to Tenafly High School. This school was also ranked as the 3rd Best High School in New Jersey by the ‘New Jersey Monthly’ in its 2010 survey of ‘Top public high schools’ in New Jersey.
Community pride, parental involvement and an administration that never accepts less than the very best, all work together to make the Tenafly school system tops in the state for education and child development.
