The owners of the Clinton Inn Hotel & Event Center have ambitious plans to redevelop the popular hotel and its surrounding property into a luxurious assisted-living facility and hotel in the heart of Tenafly’s downtown.
The Clinton Inn, at 145 Dean Drive, has been a local landmark for more than a century and has undergone many transformations since it was built.
But the latest proposal — which calls for a 124-unit assisted-living facility at the site of the inn and an upscale new hotel next door — has generated enthusiasm among local officials and residents, who say upscale senior housing and a new hotel would be positive for Tenafly’s business district.
Tenafly currently has one assisted-living option, with about 90 units, and one senior housing option, with 40 units.
Senior housing is age-restricted housing for seniors, which is usually financed and overseen by the government and does not offer medical care.
