“The Fifth Grade STAR Volunteers” is a Tenafly Walter Stillman Elementary School club of 22 fifth-graders who are split into two groups. One group helps first and second graders with social skills and the other helps the greater community with various drives for the needy. The volunteers are considered “Stars” since they have to do their good deeds during recess times and class time and then have to make up for it on their own time.
For eight weeks, five fifth-graders help their younger peers with social skills while the other students organize fundraisers and food drives. They rotate every eight weeks so students get a chance to participate in both activities. Read The Full Article on northjersey.com
