Can Tenafly Agree On A Dog Park Location?

According  to Mayor Peter Rustin, Tenafly has been searching to find a location agreeable to all to create a much talked about dog park. The most recent proposal for a location encountered strong opposition after a council member said placing it within the municipal complex will remove the “buffer” between residents and municipal business.
Mayor Peter Rustin said each time the Mayor and Council find a location that the governing body believes will not cause much disruption, neighbors of that location come to meetings to voice their concerns.

“We’ve really been thinking about this for eight years now and the reason it’s taken so long is because no one wants it near their house,” Rustin said.

 “Concerning the dog park, I’m glad to see things are happening,” said resident Andrew Mikesh. “I was involved with it a couple of years ago and I know finding the right site is a big challenge because we don’t have too many wide open spaces without neighbors around. But I think this one back here on Forest Road is a great site. If you guys can squeeze it in behind this building it’s a great site. I think the key is to get something going.”
